From Chandler, Mesa and Apache Junction in the east to Youngtown, Goodyear, and Tolleson in the west, communities in the Phoenix Metro Area are gearing up for a many sports, special events, festivals, and family-friendly activities as ever.
Sports fans know summertime means baseball – and the Arizona Diamondbacks 2016 season is in full swing. Enjoy crisp and cool air conditioning at Chase Field in downtown Phoenix. One of the first MLB stadiums with a retractable roof, Chase continues to host D-Backs home games through the first week of October. Check the schedule during your Valley visit to take part in America’s Pastime.
The Arizona Science Center, located just a block away from the baseball stadium, is another great way to enjoy some A/C. Besides boasting a planetarium and a wealth of educational installments like the Evans Family Skycycle, the Science Center also hosts special events for kids and adults alike throughout the summer.
What's more, the Science Center is embedded into Heritage Square, which is not only home to a few of the most renowned restaurants in the city, but also hosts a number of special events and festivals throughout the year. Check the schedule at Heritage Square during your Phoenix visit to see what's happening.
Looking for a charming place for a weekend stroll? Downtown Chandler is just right. Starting at the corner of Chandler Boulevard and Arizona Avenue, the main strip is home to boutique shops, eclectic art galleries, a museum, Chandler Center for the Arts, and a variety of local eateries – all connected by trellis-covered walkways lined with vintage-style lanterns.
Tempe, home to Arizona State University, is a great place to celebrate our nation's independence this Fourth of July. The 2016 July 4th Tempe Town Lake Festival brings fireworks, live music, kid's activities, vendors, and plenty of patriotic fun to Tempe Beach Park in Tempe.
