Year-Round Golf in Phoenix
Phoenix and the surrounding area is called the Valley of the Sun for good reason. The Phoenix Metropolitan area has the hottest climate of any major metropolitan area in the US. Phoenix is Arizona's state capital, the state's largest city and county seat for Maricopa County. A cosmopolitan city which opened METRO light rail service to downtown in 2009. The METRO light rail provides service to Phoenix, Tempe and Mesa offering stops near Sky Harbor International Airport, Arizona State University and along the downtown Central corridor. Convenient for downtown museums, concerts and arts events, the 20 mile initial line has made a positive impact on the Phoenix transit system.
Phoenix hosts the 2010 Arizona State Fair October 15th through November 7th. With all the traditional exhibitions and fun you expect, plus some new and exciting additions for 2010. Held at the Arizona Exposition Center, bring the family to enjoy the Days of the Dinosaur Adventure on its first US tour. The State Fair 5K Fun Run / Walk returns this year on October 17th. There is a fantastic line-up of concerts including Bret Michaels, Colbie Callat, Selena Gomez and Blake Shelton. There is something for everyone at the Arizona State Fair.

Held at the Harkins Camelview theaters in Scottsdale, expect a selection of nearly 30 films from as many as 25 countries.

Grand Canyon in Northern Arizona
The Grand Canyon, San Francisco Peaks and the White Mountains offer Arizona residents and visitors respite from the desert heat in beautiful high country surroundings. The 2010 Sedona Jazz on the Rocks is held the first weekend in October. This fall festival is one of the best music festivals in the Southwest, showcasing both new and legendary Jazz artists. The setting among the dramatic red rock formations and mountains cannot be beat.
The 20th Anniversary Sedona Arts Festival will be October 9th and 10th, 2010. This destination festival features over 150 artists and craft makers from the US showcasing works in a variety of mediums. A special Kidzone caters to the youngsters, so parents can enjoy browsing the festival. Known for high quality artists, the Sedona Arts Festival is a wonderful festival if you are in the market for art pieces.

Traditionally a chamber music event, the festival also include performances from the Native American Composer Apprentice Project. The NACAP runs programs at nearby Hopi and Navajo Reservation School. Also on schedule are Grand Canyon Unified Schools students from the Scool of Rock. This is a spectacular festival with concerts held at the Shrine of Ages on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park.

El Tour de Tucson is called one the premier organized US bicycling events in the US. The 2010 El Tour will be held November 20th with a variety of events for all ages and abilities. An alternative stationary cycling event is offered indoors the week prior and at the finish line on race day. The Fun Ride with 8 and 4 miles courses is great for youngsters, families and groups. There is even a special short course for tricycles, training wheels, and baby trailers. The big rides include a 109 miles course (longest) or 80, 66 and 35 miles options. Whether you come for fun, competition or exercise you will have a great time. The El Tour Downtown Fiesta goes on throughout the day near the finish line, with live music, food and festivities.
Tucson's Many Mouths One Stomach arts collective organizes an All Souls Procession in the city for November. The 2010 All Souls Procession will take place the weekend of November 5th through the 7th. Inspired by Mexico's Dia de los Muertos, the procession is organized as a public ceremony to honor those who have passed. The events include installation art, performers and creative expressions celebrating the lives of loved ones. The procession ends with the burning of a large urn filled with the written prayers, hopes, wishes and offerings of participants. This is a unique and special event for residents and visitors to Southern Arizona.
