Heber UFO Phenomenon
The quaint Northern Arizona town of Heber, located at the edge of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, found overnight fame in 1975. Upon leaving the forest after a day's work of clearing shrub brush, Travis Walton and his co-workers reported seeing an Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) in the sky. After Walton approached the UFO, he suddenly disappeared. This Heber UFO Phenomenon has intrigued many people throughout the years.
After being gone for five days, Walton reappeared west of Heber and made his way to the Exxon gas station, where he called his sister from the payphone. Many people speculate as to what really happened to Walton. In 1978, he published a book titled The Walton Experience documenting the events. The 1993 film Fire in the Sky was an adaptation of his book. Northern Arizona travelers curious about the 1975 events will find the friendly town of Heber ready for visitors.
